A fire in the Palmerston Buildings at the foot of Queen Street early on Sat3 urday morning did damage estimated f between £lO,OOO and £15,000. i The Brigade made a great save, r rescuing the caretaker and family before attacking the flames. The damage . to the building was slight, but Kret- . sehmar and Farmer, fancy goods warehousemen, lost stock worth £7OOO which was partly insured.
