EMBARGO ON CHINESE WHITE NEW ZEALAND WANTED [Per Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, May 3. Resentment, at the growing hold of Chinese in the fruit trade and their rapid spread to other trades was expressed by the Canterbury fruitgrowers’ meeting. It was decided to write to the Minister for Internal Affairs endorsing the action. of the Government in placing an embargo on the entry of Chinese into New Zealand until the end of the year, and it was also agreed to bring the whole matter of a white New Zealand under the notice of the Trades and Labour Council.
