ARAMUHO CLUB. PEPPER FOURS. Racing for this trophy commences on Wednesday evening. The entry of nine crews in this event has raised keen cympetition. All the crews are training hard and some keen racing is sure to result. The programme of racing will be:— First round, Wednesday.—6 p.m., Holmes rows Haywood; 6.30 p.m. Mill rows Brider. Thursday.—6 p.m., Small rows Harper; 6.30 p.m., Coxon rows Fromont, whilst Anderson has the bye.

The second round will bo rowed /n Friday, whilst tho semi-final will be or. Monday, and the final on Tuesday. Five days’ racing that will bo keen from start to finish is thus promised to A rani oho enthusiasts and followers of the club.

FOUR-OAR CONTEST COLLEGIATE SCHOOL v. W.B.C. YOUTHS. WIN FOR CLUB CREW. The annual four-oar contest between the Collegiate School and the Wanganui Rowing Club’s youths’ crows was rowed last evening, and resulted in a win for the club crew by one and a-half lengths, after an excellent race. At the start both crews hit the water together, and kept racing neck and neck for the first 50 yards, when the red and blacks, who were rowing a long, powerful stroke, took the lead. Shooting Dublin Street Bridge the School stroke challenged the leaders, and once more the boats were racing on terms. Over the last half mile the club crew held a half-length advantage over the Collegians, till near the winning post, when the red and blacks put in a final burst and passed the the judge one and a-ha If lengths to the good. Although defeated, School are to ne congratulated on putting up such a great race against their more experienced opponents. The form displaye-l last evening by the Collegians augurs well for their contest against Christ’s College next Monday. The crews were as under: — Wanganui.—R. Carr (stroke), E. Doughty, E. J. Durie, J. Darbyshire (bow). Collegiate School—G. Taylor (stroke) A. C. Williams, C. A. Steele, F. M. Jull (bow.)
