JOTTINGS FROM PRIME MINISTER’S SPEECHES A SORTING OF FLANKS. (Special to "Chronicle.”) TE AWAMUTU, Oct. 23. "You can have no difficulty in sorting up the planks of the present Government and the planks of the Labour Party/’ said the Prime Minister at Te Arolia. "You can draw your own conclusions. The Government stands for progressive government, and it is endeavouring to accomplish quite a number of things which will be in the intefest of every elector.” The Place for Surplus Money When the Prime Alinister was speaking at Te Aroha this afternoon of the country’s borrowing requirements, someone suggested that if he wanted any money he should apply to the Mayor, who had plenty. "Well,” said Air Coates, "If you want to bo patriotic and help your country I will tell you what to do. We have a five million loan before the country at the present moment* for the purpose of assisting workers and settlers, and if you want to help the country and the people spend your few bob in buying bonds.” Slum Areas to Go. “There are areas In our cities,” said the Primo Alinister to-day at Te Aroha, "which I would not live in and you would not live in. Well, never ask anyone to live where you would not live yourself. We propose to clean up those areas. ”
