There were a number of hecklers at one of the Hon. A. p. McLeod’s meetings last week, but strange enough a heckler moved the vote of thanks which was accorded the Alinister. He was Mr Arthur Heckler.
A correspondent writes:—ln a town not a hundred miles from the centre of old Rangitikei on Tuesday evening, a resident felt ho was a bojn politician, so wandered along to a political meeting. Presently it dawned upon him that he was in a "bone dry” meeting. However, any kind of politics would do, and, nothing daunted, he proceeded to question the speaker’s figures, thou to interrupt and ask questions, till he fell foul of the chairman, who requested him to reserve his questions till Jie close of the meeting. But this was his night out, and "bleshcd are the meek” was not written of him, so he proceeded with his The speaker warmed towards him and scored heavily at his expense, but like a knight of old, he remounted and returned to the charge again and again, saying, "I'll get you yet.” At thn close of the meeting, when* the collection was being taken up for the cause, he said ho had enjoyed himself and made a substantial donation to the "fighting fund.” His most intimate friends are now concerned as to which side he will favour with his allegiance on November 4.
