WESTFIELD QUOTATIONS
AVERAGE YARDING OF BEEF. SHEEP AND CATTLE SOMEWHAT EASIER. [Per Press Association..] AUCKLAND, Oct. 21. At Westfield sale to-day there was an average yarding of beef. Extra choice beef was about the same, but all other grades were easier. Quotations: — Cattle.—Extra choice ox, £2 8s per lOOlbs; choice and prime, £2 3s to"£2 6s; ordinary and plain, 37s to £2; prime young cow and heifer beef made £2 4s; others, 35s to £2. Sheep.—A fair yarding. Prices were inclined to be somewhat easier. There were no extra prime. Heavy wethers, £2 5s to £2 6s'6o; best shorn, £1 19s; medium, £1 16s 6d to £1 18s; best heavy woolly ewes, £2; best shorn, 35s 6d; other woolly ewes, £1 15s to £1 17s; other shorn, 31s 3d to 32s 9d.
Pigs.—A small yarding met with keen demand. Choppers made £3 12s to £5 14s; heavy and medium baconers, £3 to £5 10s; light baconers and heavy porkers, £4 13s to £5; medium and light porkers, £3 Ils to £3 16s.
Calves.—There was a good yarding, which sold readily at late rates. Runners made £4 10s to £5 Is; heavy venters, £3 10s to £4 8s; medium, £3 2s to £3 8s; light, £2 6s to £2 17s; small, 18s to £1 10s; fresh dropped, 3s to 6s. Lambs—A big yarding. Prices were better than last week. Heavy prime lambs made 375; medium, 31s to 35s 6dlight, 25s to 30s.
