SMALLER ENTRIES A GOOD FREE SALE [Per Preßs Assoclfi’ion.] CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 21. Entries were smaller at to-day’a Addington market. There was a good free sale in .all sections, with a tendency to firmer values in the sheep division. Store sheep.—The entry was a small one. Ewes and lambs formed the bulk of the entry. These were up slightly on last week, and hoggets were also prime. Best ewes and lambs made to 24s 6d all counted; shorn 2-tooth wethers, to 35s 6d; and ewe hoggets, to 38s Id. Spring lambs. —Ninety came forward, and they sold at from 26s 3d to 43s 9d. Fat sheep.—An average yarding, including a good consignment from mid and South Canterbury, and one lot from South Otago. An improved sale for light and shorn sheep, heavy, woolly wethers being a shade slacker. Extra prime wethers, 57s to 61s lOd; prime, 47s 6d to 53s 6d; medium, 43s Id to 46s 6d, light, 40s to 43s 6d; extra prime ewes, 45s 4d to 48s 3d; prime ewes, 40s 6d to 445; medium ewes, 37s 6d to 40s; light ewes, 32s lOd to 475; prime shorn wethers, 37s to 41s 4d; forward shorn wethers, 33s Id to 37s lOd; prime hoggets, 35s to 39s 4d. Fat Cattle.—37o head yarded, including two consignments from the North Island, half a dozen trucks from the West Coast and a draft from Kaikoura. The market was irregular, but big beef was slightly easier than last week, whilst cows and heifers were better. Extra choice beef made up to 57s 6d per 1001 b; prime medium, 52s to 555; prime heavyweight, 49s to 52s 6d; medium quality, 45s to 48s; light, 40s to 43s 6d; inferior, down to 30s per 100 lbs. The outside beef was of medium quality. Extra, prime heavyweight steers, £26 to £29; prime heavy steers, £22 to £23; medium weight steers, £l7 to £2O; light steers, £l4 to £l6 15s; rough steers, £lO to £l3 10s; extra prime heifers, to £l9 10s 6d; ordinary heifers, £7 5s to £9; extra prime cows, to £24 17s 6d; prime cows, £l2 15s to £l5 15s; ordinary cows, £9 15s to £l2 10s; light cows, £8 to £9 12s 6d; aged cows £5 15s 6d to £7 15s.

Vcalers. —A strong vealer sale, runners making to £8 17s 6d, other classes being better by ss. Store cattle.—A largrr entry and a spirited sale, graziers attending in much larger numbers. Three and 4-year steers, to £lO 4s; 2-yrs, to £7; 18-month heifers, £5; yearling to 18 months steers and heifers, £3 13s 6d; cows, 30s to £4 10s.

Dairy cattle. —Fair demand. Best springers, £6 10s to £lO 10s, medium, £4 10s to £6; poor sorts, £3 to £4 ss; best springing heifers, £6 to £10; medium, £3 to £5 10s; old cows, 32s 6d to £3. Fat pigs.—A medium entry and an irregular sale. Choppers, £3 10s to £7; baconers, £4 5s to £6 (average price per lb BJd to 9d); porkers, £2 10s to £3 15s (average price per lb, 9d to 9sd). Store pigs.—Easy prices. Weaners, 24s 6d to 30s; stores, 32s to 55s 6d; sows in pig, to £5 18s.
