BULLS.

‘‘AS MAN DESIRES.” SHOWING SATURDAY AT BULLS. (From the “Chronicle’s” Special Correspondent.) A glamorous and thrilling tale of the South Sea Isles is unfolded in First National’s new picture, “As Man Desires,” which will be shown at Bulls Town Hall on Saturday next. Milton Sills of “Sea Hawk’’’ fame, and Viola Dana are co-fcatured. The story was adapted from Gene Wright’s novel, “Pandora La Croix,” bnd affords a quick-action drama, based upon the old adage: “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.” Sills in the role of a British army surgeon in India, who is forced, through la trumped-up charge of murder, to quit the service, gives an exceedingly fine characterisation, while Viola Dania’s interpretation of the beautiful native dancing girl, who sacrifices herself to bring happiness to the man she loves, is an outstanding feature of the film. Tho story goes from the British Army posts of India to a languorous South Sea Isle, whither Major Craig (Sills) flees and where he becomes a pearl fisher, sinking to the depths of degradation, his faith in women shattered—only to be re-built by tho loyal little native girl, who restores to him the happiness he thought lost forever. The picture was directed by Irving Cummings, under the supervision of Earl Hudson.
