CHRISTCHURCH TO DUNEDIN
135 MINUTES’ JOURNEY. NEW ZEALAND AVIATOR’S ACHIEVEMENT. [Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Oct. 19. Captain L. M. Isitt and Sergeant Smith ’were at Sockburn Aerodrome, Christchurch, at 9.30 this morning. Just 135 minutes later the trim Haviland aeroplane DH9 landed them on Dunedin foreshore. Granted that favourable conditions made a contribution to the remarkable success of the trip, tho achievement represents another step in the development of New Zealand aviation. It is not the first trip an aeroplane has made to Dunedin, ■ but the pilot’s observations, it is expected, will be of great value in investigations which have as their object the study of the possibilities of regular air services. Captain Isitt is visiting Dunedin to make photographs of the Exhibition. His work, the results of which will doubtless attract keen interest, will be completed by k Friday. He will fly back to Christchurch.
