FIRE ON THE TURAKINA

' PROBABLY INCENDIARISM [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. The fire which broke out on the Turakina while she was berthed at King’s Wharf last Thursday morning, which resulted in serious damage to the cargo 'in the vessel’s afterhold, has been the I subject of investigation, as a result of which facts have been disclosed which lead it to be believed that the outbreak was not accidental as at first thought. Investigation has shown that the fire broke out in four different portions of the hold simultaneously. The cargo in the hold consisted mainly of copra and inflammable produce. The theory of the origin of the fire being spontaneous combustion is discounted, and the outbreak is considered the work of an incendiary or incendiaries.
