ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A FRACTURED SKULL [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, October 19. The capsizing of a gig resulted in J. McQuoid, an Avondale resident, 55 years of age, sustaining a fractured skull. He was driving the gig when the horse bolted. He remains unconscious in the hospital, and his condition is serious. FATAL FALL HORSE CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 19. In his attempt to jump his horse over a fence at Ohoka on Saturday, Frederick Gilmore, a married man, aged 29 years, fell off his horse which rolled on top of him, inflicting severe injuries to his head, from which he died at the Christchurch Hospital yesterday. LUI PAEWAI INJURED DANNEVIRKE, Oct. 19. A motor car driven by Lui Pacwai, of All Black fame, containing three other occupants, capsized in the Norsewood district yesterday after striking a bank and turning a couple of somersaults. Baewai is now in hospital suffering from facial injuries, but they are not considered serious, while Henry James Webster, the only other one to be injured, is in the hospital with a damaged back.
