MR LANG AND THE COUNCIL

-.-JVHAT WILL GOVERNOR DO? MAY SUGGEST AN ELECTION. SYDNEY, Oct. 19. Political circles express the opinion that the Governor will refuse Mr. Lang’s request for permission to swamp the Legislative Council, but will grant a dissolution of Parliament in order to permit the Government to obtain a mandate from the people on the proposal.

It is stated that this course is not wanted by Mr. Lang, who, if he does not receive a favourable reply from the Governor, will appeal directly to the Imperial authorities.
