BOWLING
WANGANUI WEST CLUB OPENING OF THE SEASON Last Saturday marked the official opening of the 1925 season of the Wanganui West Bowling Chib, and although the weather was far from ideal, a fair number of bowlers attended and participated in some very enjoyable games. Owing to the absence of the president, Mr T. H. Nixon, the vice-president, Captain Jas. White, officiated, and after briefly ■welcoming visitors declared the season open, whereupon Mrs White threw the kitty, those present declaring such to be truly and well performed. During the afternoon the ’Cliff ladies connected with the club dispensed light refreshments, such being dainty, and relished by the men folk. For the commencement of the season the green played well, reflecting great credit on the groundsman. The following are the results of the games played: Hill, Smith, Hayword, Christie 32 v. Skerman, Uttley, Hammond, White 10. Brown. Patterson, Webb, Wood 19 v. Eagan, Melville, Marsden, Wilson .18. Morley, Beard, Willis, Herd 19 v. Evans, R. B. Horsley, Simmonds, McCarthy 19.
