N.Z. TEAM FOR AUSTRALIA W. R. PATRICK APPOINTED CAPTAIN. [Per Press Association.! CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 19. Mr. W. R. Patrick has been chosen by the management committee of the Canterbury Cricket Council as captain of the New Zealand team to tour Australia. It is announced that among those who notified the selection committee before the team was chosen that they were not available were: —N. C. Sneddon (Auckland), D. C. Collins (Wellington), H. M. McGirr (Wellington), and J. Shepherd (Otago). WELLINGTON CRICKET ASSOCIATION MATCHES PROPOSED [Per Press Association.! WELLINGTON, Oct. 19. The Wellington Cricket Association decided to-night to write to the New Zealand Cricket Council requesting that a match be arranged on November 18 and 19 between Wellington reps and the New Zealand team touring Australia. The Otago Cricket Association wrote suggesting January 29 and 30 and February 1 as dates for the Otago-Wellington Plunket Shield match. In view of the fact that the anniversary of Wellington Province falls on January 22, it was decided to request Otago to bring forward the dates one week.
