FRENCH VERY ANXIOUS

SITUATION IN SYRIA VERY. DISQUIETING. TERRORISM BY BEDOUINS. LONDON, Oct. 18. The Paris correspondent of the “Times” says that private despatches indicate a disquieting position in Syria. They state that the insurgent Druse chiefs show no signs of submiting. The roads outside Damascus are wholly unsafe, and bands of Bedouins are the virtual masters of northern Syria, the French having neither troops nor gendarmes to oppose them. Serious rioting in Damascus and Hama recently was promoted by rebels. A number of buildings were set on tire and burned. Troops from Aleppo quelled the outbreaks, killing over 100 Rebels.
