Mitchell for failing to take the necessary steps to destroy rabbits on their properties. Mr R. Mackay appeared for the board. Evidence was given by the board’s inspector, Mr W. Sutherland, and by the stock inspector, Mr E. A. Palmer, in support of the board. Mr A. A. Mitchell who was undefended, was fined £3 and costs £1 17s. Mr Campbell defended his own case, and stated that he had trapped 14 rabbits and had also poisoned with carrots after he had received notice to do so. The Magistrate stated that trapping was not an approved method of destroying rabbits, and after quoting the stringent provision of the Rabbit Act, said that defendant apparently did not realise his responsibility and regarded the position solely from his own point of view, which was a selfish one. He had overlooked his duty to his neighbours. By allowing rabbits to breed and spread on his own property he was nullifying the good work done in this respect by his neighbours, to which the inspector had testified. A fine of £5 and costs £1 14s was imposed. Judgment was given for plaintiff in the following undefended cases: Ford and Co. v. J. H. Pooiey £1 7s, costs £1 15s; V. Edhouse v. W. Which is another way of saying that. Rosemary Theby, screen vamp, plays the part of a love-intriguing matron in “As Mfin Desires," which, co-featuring Milton Sills and Viola Dana, comes next Saturday to Bulls Town Hall.
