HIDES AND SKINS
SALE AT WELLINGTON. The vario-UB brokers report holding at Wellington on Friday the fortnightly sale at sheep-skins, hides and tallow, in conjunction with the crutchings sale. There w T as a good attendance of buyers and competition was keen throughout the sfele. Dried skins were keenly sought after, prices showing fully Id per lb better than last sale. Salted were also in good demand, prices being about 6d per skin better. Hides were on a par with last sale, with the exception of calf skins, which were about id to id easier. Tallow was on a par with Hast sale. Tho following gives the range of prices realised:— Sheep-skins.—Halfbred 12|d to 14$d, fine crossbred 12d to 14d, medium to coarse crossbred lid to 12|d, short to half-wools 9d to Hid, lambs Hid to 14d, dead and damaged crossbred 9d to Hid, inferior and badly damaged 4d to Bid, pelts 6d to BJd, damp, salted and green 8s 3d to 13s 6d, pelts# salted 3s 6d to 3s 9d, lambs, salted 2s lOd to 3s 6d.
Hides. —Ox, extra heavy 8 3-8 d to 9d, heavy 8 3-8 d to 8 5-Bd, medium 71d to 8 l-Bd, light 6|d to 7 l-Bd, cut, slippy and inferior 4|d to 7d. Cow, heavy 6|d to 6 7-Bd, medium 6Jd to 6 7-Bd, light 6id to 7 l-Bd, cut, slippy and inferior 2id to 6 l-Bd. Bull,' stag 4|d. Yearlings, 7id, heavy 6id to 7 7-Bd. Calf, superior good 12 3-8 d to 12 5-Bd, medium to good Hid to 12id, damaged 2d to 10id. Tallow.—ln casks, 30s to 33s 6d; in tins, etc., 2.1 s to 31s 6d. Sundries.—Horsehair 20id to 21 d.
