BANANA TRADE RUINED
SYDNEY' TO IMPORT AGAIN. SYDNEY, July 22. The ravages of bunchy-top disease in banana plantations in the Tweed River district, previously a large exporting centre, have been so disastrous that the local Fruitgrowers’ Association which handled the trade is no longer required, and has been disbanded. A movement is on foot in Sydney to re-establish the banana trade with Fiji. A shipping firm has offered to provide suitable steamer accommodation if sufficient inducement is offered.
