Dr. McLean, medical superintendent at Pukeora Sanatorium, has been ordered by his medical adviser to take a two months’ holiday in the south. He leaves this week.
A Christchurch telegram reports the death of Mr C. H. Opie. a prominent member for many years of the Canterbury Education Board, Canterbury College Board of Governors, and Technical College Board.
A Dunedin telegram announces the death of Air William Reid, aged 80, Grand Secretory of the Grand Lodge, T.0.0.F., from 1877 till a year ago, when he was appointed consulting Grand Secretary.
The Christ Church vestry, at its monthly meeting on Monday, placed on record its appreciation of the long and valued services to the church and dineeso of the late Archdeacon A. Towgood.
A Thames message states that the death occurred yesterday morning of Mr William McCullough, a former Leg
islative Councillor and proprietor of th Thames Star for over thirty years. II had been living in retirement for th past five years.
The death occurred at Alokai on Sun day, of Mrs Harry Hately, a well known Maori woman. Her Maori namd was A ret! te Poihipi, and she was |O<) years of ago. She was one of the first pupils at th'* Rev. Hadfield’s mission school at Otaki in 1840, and took great pride in this fact.
