The Daily Express says: The visit of Major-General Ashmore to Gibraltar for the purpose of organising the air defences of that base again raises the question whether, assuming Spain is willing. Britain should code the Rock in exchange for Ceuta, a fortified port, belonging to Spain, on the coast, of Morocco opposite Gibraltar. Experts point out that Gibraltar is no longer a secure base, as modern howitzers, firing from the Spanish mainland, could prevent ships entering the harbour.
