ANGLO-FRENCH PEOPLES HISTORIC GATHERING AT VERDUN Received June 29, 11.45 p.m. (Reuter) LONDON, June 29. The Lord Mayor of Loudon was the principal guest at. a civic banquet at Verdun on the ninth anniversary of the battle of Verdun. M. Poincare, in a speech, said ho believed London’s generosity in adopting Verdun was not a demonstration of passing sentiments, but a brilliant testimony to unshakeable friendship. Verdun’s citizens realised the sympathies and interests closely uniting the two countries. He therefore toasted, “The perennial alliance of the Anglo-French peoples.’’
