MARTON NOTES.

MARTON MINIATURE RIFLE CLUB (From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the above club was held in the Lounge Bar on Thursday evening, Mr C. E. Gibbons gresiding over a good attendance. THE REPORT. The report drew attention to the sound financial position of the club. The credit balance at the bank amounts to £l2 7s, and assets are estimated at about £7O, with no liabilities. Ph* club has only been in existence two years, and its financial status should be a great incentive for new officebearers to continue the good work. Shooting.—ln persuing the year’s records the report stated that members evidently lacked practice. The shooting was not up to the previous year’s standard owing to the fact that the club did not, compete in the McKclvie Cup as well as the ■ Shield postal matches. Team shooting should be adopted by the club. Several matches were fired with Bulls and one with Hunterville and seevral postal matches were also arranged. These matches were all enjoyed by the men, and the unanimous opinion was that there were not enough of them. Trophy Competitions.—There were a good number of trophy competitions throughout the season, and were keenly contested, the exceptions being tho club championship (cup presented by Mr A. Way). There were only ten entrants in the former and five for the latter. Every member should make a point of competing for either of these competitions, as it should be the aim of every shootist to rise to the top of the pinnacle in shooting. Dance.- —The adult and boys’ club held a dance on August 29, which was a great success as a social event, but not financially. Club Officials. —The report expressed appreciation of services rendered by club officials, but there is not enough support received from members. The same officers had to do the work every night, while the members seem quite content to shoot, and get away as sooa as possible without rendering any assistance. But for this one point there has not been a hitch in the season’s operations. The report hoped that the members would realise their obligations adn assist the new officers for the 1925 season. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted:— Patron, Captain Wales; president, Mr C. E. Gibbons; vice-presidents, Messrs F. Purnell, G. T.
