A NAVAL VISITOR
H.M.S. LABURNUM IN PORT. TI.M.S. Laburnum left Wellington at | 3 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, and ar- I rived in the local roadstead early yesi terday morning, berthing at. the Castlei cliff wharf at noon. The vessel is a I sloop similar to tho Yeroniea, which.' I called here in Marell of last year. I Tho officers of tho Laburnum are: I Commander Smyth. Lieutenant F. A. • Hull. Lieutenant Edward F. Disbrowc, Surg.-Lieut. C. E. Roach-Smith, Subi i Lieut. C. 11. Glasfurd, Gunner J. T. Ogeley and Wt. .Engineer W. Broadhurst. , The Laburnum is 1200 tons register | with 1800 indicated horse-power. Her [length is 265 feet and she draws 14 i ‘ foot of water. She carries two four- : I inch guns, four three-iuch guns, and i two pompoms. Her complement, in- > eluding the ofiicors, is 103 all told. An official call was paid to the wardship by the Alayor (Mr Hope Gib- ’ ibons) and the chairman of the Harbour - (Board (Mr A. G. Bignell). .
