BULLS NOTES.
TENNIS CLUB. (From Our Ow n Correspondent.) | A meeting of the committee was i held on Tuesday evening, eight memI hers being presei t. The secretary was instructed to pay the affiliation fee of one guinea to the Wanganui Association. Subscriptions were discussed, and the secretary was instructed to send out notices. It was pointed out that according to the rules of the club, members whose subscriptions were unpaid on January 1 ceased to have the right to club privileges until they became financial. The arrangements for cutting the i grass (two men to be told off each week; were approved. Miss Walker, or: behalf of the Ladder Committee, announced the result of tho Combined Doubles Handicap competition:—A Grade—G. McDonald and Mrs Ralfe 1, with 10 wins. B. Grade — G. McDonald and Miss Gibbs 1, with 6 wins. It was decided to procure Silver badges for the holders of the Challenge Doubles—two shapes, round and diamond, for the champion and secondary events respectively, each to be suitably engraved. These contests tire very popular and it is hoped that the badges will still further encourage competition. After a vote of thanks to the chair, the meeting adjourned. t BOY SCOUTS IN CAMP. The Bulls Boy Scouts are spending 10 days in camp. The camp is situated in an ideal spot, being on the banks of the Rangit.ikci River, on Mr Fred Ellis’ property, and is under the supervision of Miss N. Wilson, scoutmistress, and L. Kemp, assistant scoutmaster. Scouts Broughton and Mansell, who recently returned from the jamboree in England, are present, and a patrol from the Feilding troop have also joined up. The cubs will spend a few days in camp next week. The camp, which is being conduete-1 under modern scout methods, is inspected daily, and is a model of cleanliness and system. The boys arc engaged on pioneer work, but during the remainder of the camp they will be employed in all branches of scoutcraft, including tho building of huts, rafts and bridges. Altogether, the boys will have a busy time, in the evenings all gather round the camp tire, and songs and choruses are practised for the concert to be held in Bulls on January 23. It is expected to have a visit from Major Sandford, of New Plymouth, who recently took the troop of New Zealand Scouts to England. News has been received that the Bulls troop have again won the shooting competition for the Scout Cup. Following are the results: —Bulls 1, Grey Lynn 2, St. Mary’s 3. These are followed by St. Barnabas, Herne Bay, Calliope, Leys Institute. The following telegram has been received from General Andrew: “Please convey executive congratulations to winners of Shooting Cup. and to Mr Phillips.’’ Mr A.
