WANGANUI CITY COUNCIL
The first meeting of the Wanganui City Council was held last evening. Present: The Mayor, Mr Hope Gibbons. Councillors * Halligan, Green, Sharpe, Reardon, Gohns, Spriggens, Jenson, Arnold, Pearce, Beadle, Rogers, Poynter, Carlyle, Richardson, Luxford. WORKS COMMITTEE. The following report was adopted:— Fence, Maria Place and Gaol Reserve.—The committee recommend that a sum be placed on the estimates for providing the iron fence between the Gaol Reserve and Maria Place, as previously agreed with the Department. Milward Street Planting.—We recommend that this street be planted with suitable street trees as requested by the residents. Grey Street Extension. —The committee recommend that the engineer be instructed to proceed with this work at once. Wanganui East esplanade footpath.— Instructions have been given to the engineer to make good this path* where required. MISCELLANEOUS. A petition from the ratepayers of Marshall Avenue and Nile Street was referred to the Works Committee for a report.
