VALEDICTORY

Last evening members of the Marist Cricket Club met at Harman’s Hall to bid farewell to Mr George Parsons, president of the club, who is leaving Wanganui to-morrow for Australia. During the evening Messrs A. Greener J. Hayhow (hon. secretary of the Wanganui Cricket Association), H. Grieg, T. Souter,, and G. Herd spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Parsons as a keen and enthusiastic sport. Mr A. Greener, on behalf of the club, presented Mr Parsons with a fountain pen and a gold Sheaffer pencil. Mr Parsons, in responding, said that anything he had done for the club had been a pleasure, and. should he come back to Wanganui, he would bo only too pleased to help the club again. The Gaiety Orchestra contributed several numbers during the evening, and Messrs L. Koorey, G. Smithies, J. Greener, and T. Souter also render ed items. Mr A. Foster was accons panist. The function was brougA' to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.”
