N.Z.F.A.

(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, June 30. At a meeting of the New Zealand Football Association Council to-night, the secretary reported that he had cabled an offer to share the profits, fifty-fifty, after paying expenses, for a visit of the Canadian team for three games (at Wellington, Hamilton and Auckland). The Commonwealth had replied asking for 55 per cent, gross and expenses, which would be £lO3O, and he had replied declining the offer. —This action was approved. Canterbury protested . against the fourth Chinese Test at Christchurch on the ground that interest would have waned. The secretary had replied that possibly a fifth Test W’ould be necessary. It was agreed that the Chinese games should be played on English Park, but the hope was expressed that increased accommodation would be ready Communications were received from Otago, Wanganui and Rotorua, stating that Rugby grounds had been secured on reasonable terms for games with the Chinese team. It was reported that Auckland Rugby Union had written to Wellington Rugby Union, asking for a strong team to be sent to Auckland as a counterattraction to the Chinese game there on August 16. Reference was made to the N.S.W. ’Varsity games clashing with the Chinese games at Christchurch and Dunedin. Delegates were appointed to interview the New Zealand Rugby Union to see if the dates can be re-arranged, and discuss the position generally. Masterton retailers are to be asked to close for two hours on the afternoon of the Chinese match on July 17. It was reported that the semi-final of the Chatham Cup * would probably be played at Auckland and the final at Wellington. Local associations arc to be asked for definite information where Soccer is excluded from schools, with a view to a deputation to the Minister of Education. Transfers were agreed to as follows: —Gilbertson, Waterside, Wellington, to Harbour Board, Auckland, but not to be eligible for the Chatham Cup, as he has already played in Wellington; W. D. Kennedy, Dunedin, to Ponsonby, Auckland.
