SHEEP WORRYING. From Our Own Correspondent) Evidently through sheep worrying on farms near the town, farmers on others have taken the law in their own hands and laid poison. The result of this action was that on Sunday no less than thirty-five dogs—some of them most valuable—were laid at rest. Rumours are afloat that more will be heard of this poisoning of dogs in town. GOLF. During the week-end a match was played between the married and single men members of the Raetihi Golf Club. The day proved fine and the links were well patronised. Tho single men proved victorious. The following are the results, the married men being mentioned first:—• , Feltham lost to Wilson. Jennings lost to Ritchie. Baddclcy beat McCall. Murray lost to Johnston. Thomson lost to Bramwell. Windle lost to Trcgurtha. Laloli beat Mackenzie. Urwin beat Davies. Scarfe beat Bush. FOOTBALL. The only result, of tho thirds known in Raetihi on Saturday evening was that between Ohakune and United, which resulted in a’ draw. In tho senior competition Ohakune defeated Raetihi by 18 to nil. A most exciting game was played on the Show Grounds between Ohakune Junction and United. The former won on good forward play, which at times was most spectacular and exciting. On the. day the host team won. For tho winners R. Young scored two tries, and Peck converted one. This player also registered a penalty goal. For United Byrne, McDonnell and Evans scored tries, none of which was converted. Mr. J. Bcryman was referee. KING COUNTRY UNION. A meeting of the King Country Rugby Union was held at Taumarunui on Friday evening. REP. TOUR. It was decided to send the rep. team on tour and the proposed games were arranged as follows: Wairarapa, at Carterton, on September 13. Bush Districts, at Pahiatua, on September 17. Wellington, on September 20. Horowhenua, at Levin, on September 27. It was also resolved to arrange a match with Taihape on September 11. Auckland will play King Country at Taumarunui, on August. 26. A match has been arranged with a Waikato team, at Te Kuiti, on August 13. Saturday, July 5, has been set aside as Charity Saturday throughout the *King Country. Matches will be arranged and 50 per cent, of the proceeds will be set aside as nucleus for a fund for injured players and the other 50 per cent, will be the home teams’ benefit.
