THE GRAND. A MAGNIFICENT PROGRAMME. PRISCILLA DEAN IN“THE M'HlTfi TIGER.” A beautiful of the underworld,, but not the eordid underworld of to-day's fiction, rather the highest Htratft of International crookdoin, >0 the heroine of "White Tiger," the Unlvoml-Jewel special ■which opened yesterday at the Grand Theatre. And Priscilla Dean, the fiery beauty of "Outside the Law,” one of the greatest of all crook film plays, "The Flame of Life” and other famous successes plays the role. Suppprting Miss Dean are Wallace Beery of "The Flame of Life” and “Robin Hood,” Matt Moore of "The Storm” and Raymond Griffith. Dean, Beery and Griffith are the trio or international lightweight transfer artists in the dramatic story, T'od Browning wrote and directed “White Tiger” as he did “Outside tho Law.” This picture is supported by a First National attraction “The Spider and the Rose” in which Gaston Glass, Alice 'Lake, Robert McKini, Joseph J. Dowling. Noah Berry, Edwin Stoy ens, Alec B. Francis, Richard Head rick, Otis Harlan, Louise Fazenda, and Harry Northrup all have important parts in “The Spidep and the Rose” a tale of misison life in California during the days when that state was a province of Mexico under the reign of Maximillian. Revolution, plots, counterplots and conspiracy appear in rapid succession in a swift moving story that holds all the elements of drama, pathos, jealousy, love, heart-interest, hate and rich, red drama. A matinee will be given to-day at 2 p.m. and another large audience is sure to be recorded again to-night. QUEEN ALEXANDRA BAND At Waverley, on Saturday evening, the Queen Alexandra Band, about 40 strong, under Lieut. Buckley, rendered a delightful programme to a largo audience in the Town Hall. The playing of the band was a delight to all present, and Waverley patrons enjoyed a musical feast. A descriptive sketch by the band entitled ‘‘The Mill in the Dale” was particularly enjoyable, and cornet solo, “Silver Shower.” by Mr. H. Vineent, was a gem by a brilliant artist. Every item was voicifcrously applauded. At the conclusion of the performance Mr. McGregor, president of the local A. and P. Association, thanked Lieut. Buckley and his band, who, he said, had given the concert gratis in order to help the funds of the association. Lieut Buckley’s gencrons spirit was greatly appreciated by the people of Waverley. In reply Lieut Buckley stated that it was a. pleasure for both the band and himself to play in Waverley. At tho Racecourse, on Sunday afternoon, at 2.30., the band gave a musical recital before another large audience.
