AFRICANS v. ENGLISH ELEVEN TjONDON, June 26. Leveson-Gower’s team in their first innings made 230—Howell 43, aud Hoggart 47. Blanckenbcrg took five wickets for 53. The Africans in their second innings scored 171 —Taylor 33, Susskind 44, Catterall 45. Doggart took five wickets for 58, Rhodes four for 39. Leveson-Gower’s batting was similar to the Africans. There was a round of cheap wickets. Howell, the Oxonian, Doggart and Crutchley gave the brightest displays. The Africans began their second innings badly. Commaille, Taylor, and Nourse went cheaply. The score was five wickets for 117, but then Rhodes took four wickets for five runs in four overs. The wicket wore badly after an hour’s play. COUNTY MATCHES LONDON, Juno 26. In the first day’s play against Sussex, Lancashire made 287 —E. Tyldesley 105 not out. In the match, Worcester against Notts, Whysall scored 131, completing his thousand runs for the season. Against Derby, Woolley, for Kent w made .124 not out.-
