, OLD AGE PENSION BILD. IMPORTANT AMENDMENTS CARRIED. LONDON, June 26. The House of Commons carried the financial resolution on which the Government based the Bill amending old age pensions, and abolishing the restrictions which limited private means, due to thrift, which disqualifies persons otherwise eligible. The Bill provides that a person over 70 with an income of 25s weekly is eligible for the full pension of 10s weekly, provided that at least 15s of the 25s is derived from unearned sources. A married couple having a joint income of 50s weekly are eligible for a pension of 20s.

The Hon. P. Snowden said he hoped shortly to submit a. scheme pensioning widows, especially widow ed mothers, and to reduce the age limit to 65 also.
