DAIRYMEN’S CONFERENCE
NEW ZEALAND’S EXPORTATION OF BUTTER. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND, June 25. The National Dairymen’s Conferences re-elected Mr. A. Morton as president. Mt. Singleton, a director of the dairy division, in an address, said that despite the position of Denmark he believed that New Zealand is still the greatest exporter of butter in .the world. Per head of population New Zealand had 94 cows, Denmark 46. Denmark imported butter for home consumption and had to import fodder, while the balance of trade favoured New Zealand by seven million pounds. He suggested that the time was oportune to raise the minimum grading of cheese from 88 to 90 for first grade. The present production of butter and cheese was sufficient for the world’s international trade for the time being. Improved quality, therefore, was necessary to maintain our returns from dairy produce. SOUTH AFRICAN AFFAIRS. HERTZOG FORMING A CABINET. CAPETOWN, June 24. General Hertzog has accepted the Premiership and is now forming a Cabinet.
