ASHBURTON WINTER MEETING. (Per Press Association.) ASHBURTON, June T. The Ashburton Trotting Club’s winter meeting was held to-day. The weather was fine and there was a large attendance. The track was in splendid order. The totalisator handled £20,157, against £23,937 last year. Results:— Trial Handicap.—Bruce 1, Royal Arcade 2, Peter Bingen 3. Half a length; three lengths. Time, 3.33. Longbcach Handicap.— Freeman J, Red Peter 2, Thistlewood 3. Five lengths; three lengths. Time, 3.46. County Handicap.—Onyx 1, Child Pointer 2, Logan Lou 3. Also: Countryman, Dolly Dillon, Princess Zoe, Pearl Chimes, Dalnahinc, Emperor, Bonny Logan and Prince Pointer (bracketed), Golden Devon, Brutus, Harbour Light, Elite, Fashion Queen, All Bell, Hypo, Ahuriri, Vilo, Man o’ War. New Zealand Sapling Stakes.—Kohara (J. Bryce) 1, Gibraltar 2, Nelson Tasker 3. Four lengths; six lengths. Time, 3.32 1-5.
