BAINFIELD FRIESIANS.
SALE AT INVERCARGILL. (Per Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, March 27The first day of the Bainfield Friesian sale was a marked success. The weather was glorious, a’d the attendance large, buyers coming from all parts oE. the Dominion. The top. price was 6V5 guineas for the herd sire Wetherland Pietertye of Bainfield, the purchaser being Wm. Bevan (Manakau). The top-priced female was a four-year-old cow. Bainfield Topsy 13, by Rosevale —King Sylvia out of Oakwood Topsy. This cow was secured by Mr. Jas. Grant, of Gore, at 400 guineas. Other good prices were: —Bulls, 100 guineas, 150 guineas and 300 guineas; females, 200 guineas, 210 guineas, 250 guineas, 300 guineas, 310 guineas and 400 guineas. Altogether one hundred and two lots realised a grand total of £10,550, an average of over £lO3 per head. Several doubtfol breeders were sold under full protection to the buyers, the terms being —no calves, no payment. The distribution of the first day’s lot is: Southland 12, rest of South Island 46; North Island, 38; Australia, 2; and Argentine, 4 head.
