LAND AGENTS AND AUCTIONEERS

ASSOCIATION’S ANNUAL MEETING. The first annual meeting of the Land Agents and Auctioneers’ Association of Wanganui, was held in Dustin’s Rooms last evening, when practically all jnembers of the Association were present. The president (Mr F. Liffiton) congratulated the meeting on the very satisfactory position the Association had attained since its inauguration twelve months ago. The president thanked the members of the executive for the time and attention they had given the Association, and also referred to the valuable services rendered by the hon. secretary, Mr Tanered Cooper. The following office:- were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Mr Herbert Duigan; vice-president, Mr C. J. Sharpe; executive committee, Messrs London, O’Meara, Verry, Liffiton and Beauchamp. (Messrs Marlow and Brice were elected country members of the executive); secretary, Mr Tanered Cooper; auditor, Mr R. M. Finlayson? The business of the evening having been disposed of, a most enjoyable smoke concert was held. The chief item on the proogramme, however, was a surprise presentation tu the hon. secretary, Mr Cooper. The new president (Mr Duigan), in presenting a handsome clock and a silver tobacco box, spoke in very eulogistic terms of the great service rendered to the Association by Mr Cooper. The recipient, who was cheered on rising to speak, responded in very feeling terms. The following gentlemen contributed some very pleasing items during the evening:—Messrs Whiteford, Bond, Newrick, H. Duigan, Geo. Ewan, Tyler and Peter 3waz The singing of the National Anthem brought a most enjoyable function to a close.
