A MISERABLE CREATURE

(Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, March 26. The unusual plea o£ loss of memory was put forward by Oswald Benn Kennedy at the Police Court in answer to an application by his wife for maintenance. Kennedy declared he had no recollection of marrying his wife, and consequently had been living wihb another woman in Auckland. He declared that his condition had been brought about by an accident to his haad in Australia. Under examination, the defendant’s plea broke down- He admitted he had not fdrgotten his wife, but thought she had rot acted right. Ho had two 'children by the woman he had been living with. The Magistrate, in making the order, stated that it was one of the wickedest and most scoundrelly cases ever before the Court, and defendant deserved gaol.
