DISQUALIFIED MEMBERS
AN INDIGNANT HOSPITAL BOARD (Per Press Assocaition). DARGAVILLE, July 11. At to-day’s meeting of the Kaipara Hospital Board, notification was received from the Audit Department that two members of the present board—Messrs W. J. Simpkin and Thos. Bassett—and a member of the i old board—Mr A. Morgan—had been disqualified owing to the fact that the board had purchased goods from companies on which the members concerned were directors. The first mentioned are directors of the Northern Wairoa Dairy Company, from which the board bought their supplies of butter, and the latter is chairman of the Kaipara Lune Company, from which the board bought a quantity of limo for use on a farm attached to the hospital. Mr Morgan did not seek reelection this year. Members of the board were very indignant at the position of affairs, and decided to bring the matter before the Hospital Boards Conference, to be held at Wellington this month, with the idea of getting the Government to amend the Act. The board has now decided to cease buying their butter from the dairy company, and have been informed that if this is done the members would be again eligible to take their seats on the board if reeom mended by the local body whom they represent. Mr John Stallworthy, chairman of the board, was apopinted to represent the board at the conference in Wellington.
