TIT FOR TAT
CANADA CANCELS U.S. PRIVILEGES. Received May 27, 8.30 p.m. OTTAWA, May 26. It is announced that Canada will cancel privileges allowed to American fishing vessels on the Atlantic eoast, which have been effective since 1888. After 15th June no further licenses will be issued. The cancellation followed America’s refusal to give Canadian vessels similar privileges, and is also an indirect outcome of the Fordney tariff, which hit Canadian fishermen a blow.
