WELLINGTON SHEEPSKIN, HIDE, AND TALLOW SALES

The fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides and tallow was held on Friday, when a medium-sized catalogue of all classes was submitted to a representative attendance of buyers. Sheepskins.—Dry skins -were in fair demand, prices all round being lower by from par t-o £d on previous rates. Salt ice w r ero keenly competed for and advanced from 3d to 6d each. Hides. —Stout and heavies of substance, showed no marked alteration. Ordinary medium sorts and light weights were about on a par. Kip ar.d yearling sold without any alteration. Calfskins showed a slight advance. Tallow was on a par w'ith late rates. Following is Lhe range of prices:— Sheepskins.—Halfbred, 10-Jd to 133 d; fine crossbred. 10d to 12Ad ; medium to coarse crossbred. BA-d to lid; short to half wools, 7;{‘l to Wd; lambs. BJd to IHd ; dead and damaged crossbred, 5d to 9£d; inferior and badly damaged. Id to 7d; pelts, 4’ t d to 8d ; damp, salted and green. 2s 6d to 7s 9d: pelts, salted, 3s 6(llambs, salted, 2s to 5s 9d. Hides.—Ox heavy, 591 bs up. 9 1 8d to HJd; ox medium. 50 to 58lbs, to 10id; ox light. 491bs and under, s£d to 7 7-8 d; cut, slippy and inferior, 2d to 91d: cow, heavy. 551 be and over, 7d to 8 7-8 d; cow, medium, 42 to 54ibs, 6£d to 73d; cow, light, under 42ii>s, <Ad to 7£d : cut. slij.py and inferior, 26d to 6 l-8d ; bull. stag. 2jd to 53d; yearlings (lllbs to 321hs). 6d to 8 7-Sd; calf, medium to good (up to lOfljs), 103 d to 15Jd; calf damaged, 3d to 82 d. Tallow. —Good demand for shipping parcels at late rates. In casks, 22s Gd to 27s 6d; in tins, etc., 15s to 28s. Sundries. —Hors*? hair, Is 6d.
