THREE YEARS’ SILENCE
MAN WHO NEVER SPOKE JO WIFE JUDGE GRANIS DIVORCE. Received May 20. 5.5 p.m. LONDON, May 19. Mrs Ada Diver was granted a decree against her husband, who had not spoken a word to her for three years, though he lived in the same house. The judge accepted the grounds cf desertion, saying that he thought it proved by the fact that respondent intentionally denied his wife everything she was entitled to. The wife gave qy idenee that Diver sat st table at the mid-day meal every day for three years, never once speaking. She asked him the reason of his silence, whereupon, without answering, he lose and tried to strangle her. The Judge—He just sits and eats in not a word passed in the house? The Wife—Not a single remark. The Judge—Did he ever complain about anything 0 The Wife—Never. The Judge—he just sits and eats m silence ? The Wife—Yes. Then he goes out and sleeps away. Evidence was also given of the iiusr band’s misconduct.
