BARMAN CAUSES ItOSS OF MAN’S EYE. ORDERED TO PAY £3OO DAMAGES. I Per Press Association 1 CHRISTCHURCH. May 17. An affray at the Grosvenor Hotel on March 3 last was revived in the Supreme Court to day. Last week John Stack, barman at the hotel, was fined £lO for assaulting Thomas Reynolds, a gas expert, by striking him in the eye, and the eye was severely' injured and had to be removed. Reynolds now brought a civil action against Stack, claiming £1004) damages. Mr Justice Adams said Stack admitted the blow was struck in anger, and there could be no defence to the general action. The jury gave a verdict for plamtift for £3OO damages.
