FATHER CHRISTMAS.

Bless me! Hither that old fellow bather Christmas comes once more, Looking just as npe and mellow And as ruddy as of yore! With his hampers and his eases Packed with turkeys, hams, and geese! Jolliest of jolly faces, Typical of perfect peace. Come, lads, one and all, and meet him. Give him welcome, show your glee. Cheer your best, feys ! us greet him M ith a rousing “Three times throe!” He’s a “sport” if over wa s one, ith a thought for each and all; And his gifts’ My lads, he has one For each unit, great and small I For the ladies, lacy “somethings” (Fancy boxes, dainty lids). Tor you fellows, lots of “rum" things. But his main thought—the kids. And he’s such a knack of guessing What precisely meets each whim. That it’s genuine caressing When the kids are kissing him’ Stay I I fancy uliat, as nearer He approaches 1 can trace More of sunshine, showing clearer, This year lighting up his face. 'Tis tl.*fse yearnings of the nations That all quarrelling shall cease Which revives his aspirations Ever passionate for peace! Old Dad Christmas lias no leaning In his heart for things of war; Songs of hate and martial meaning Are not in his repertoire. Wherefore, give him your good wishes, Let no ill his visit mar. Set ye forth yo-ir choicest dishes, From Iris feast all glumness bar. Hence, then, .send we out our greetings To our readers everywhere! Here’s to Father Christinas meetings! Peace and plenty—ana to spare ! May our lands, at his next coming. Have of warlike clouds no fear May our industries be “humming” 'Through a peaceful, bright New Year! —Anonymous.
