A London cable Mates that Miss Aileeu Oust, aster of the King’s Equeiry, is the first woman to receive the diploma, of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. The resignation of Mr M. B. Barnett. Assistant Public Trustee, after 40 years’ service, on supperaunnation, has been announced by the Hon. J. G. •Coates. He will be succeeded by Mr ‘H. Turner, now Chief Inspector. Mr H. H. Ostler is leaving New Zealand on .January 24 for England, and will be absent for the greater part of a year. At a meeting or Tuesday of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society, of which he is president; he was granted leave of absence. The Prime Minister (Right Hon. W. F. Massey)) will remain in Wellington for Christmas. After the festive season he will leave for Auckland, where he has several engagements to meet A Delhi cable announces the death of Mr Hilton, one of the few Mutiny veterans, who assisted in the defence of Lucknow. He was buried in the Residency with military honours.
