RANGITIKEI MAORIS. Great interest is being evinced in the above match, which is set down for Saturday afternoon at 2.30, on the Alarton Park. Both teams will be represented by their full strength and a strenu.es game is anticipated. Several All Black Maoris will take part, including Peina and Potaka (of Rata). GENERAL NEWS. A willing and strong ycuth in Alarton advertises for a position on a mixed farm. Upper Tutaenui were ag.vii succ. ssf >1 in the Cribbage i up tourn inn nt at Alorton on Alonday evenlag, when they defeated the Druids by 1.5 g.qmes to 10. and thus win the cup. Alll.liH.gh there are two more matches to play, but with 5 points to their credit an ! Druids 2 points, the Upper Tutaenui-ites are m an unassailable position. Ou Thursday evening. August 24th, the Rata Football Club will hold a dance in the Coronation Hall, Rata, to commemorate the win of the Club in the Senior Shield competition and Raymond Cup, which will lie presented by the president of the Rangitikei Union. On Friday evening the Sandon Football Club will celebrate their win of the 1 Third-class Cup and seven-a-side Third- 1 class Cup and medals presented by Turakina residents. 1
The death is recorded at Alarton on Sunday of Airs Frances Humphrey, relict of the late Henry Humphrey, and mother of Air L. St. L. Humphrey, in her 83rd year.
The Wanganui Rugby Union has forwarded a cheque lor .£5 to the Rangitikei Union, which will bo devoted to the encouragement of school football m the Rangitikei district. It is probable that the local Union will conduct a schools Shield competition during the 1923 season.
The ordinary ninthly meeting of the Rangitikei County Council will be held on Thursday, August 31st.
