FIGHTING AT CORK. THE POSITION OBSCURE. I 1 Received August 11, 8.30 p.m. LONDON., August 10. The telegraph and telephone wires are still cut and the position in Cork is obscure. Apparently fighting con- , | tinned after the rebels set fire to ’ I the buildings, including Admiralty I House, the naval hospital and the r : offices of the newspapers Cork Examiner and Cork Constitution. The _ fires made a big blaze in several quarters of the city. The rebels con- . strutted a boom across lhe harbour in order ta prevent shipping entering. They commandeered two hoppers which they armed with machine guns, but failed to impede surprise landings. The whole rebel army is now retreating to the mountainous districts in the south-west.
