ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL.

WANGANUI FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. The annual general meeting of the above Association was held in the Y.M.C.A. Rooms on the Bth instant. The president (Mr V. A. Stapleton) was in the chair. There was a large attendance.

The annual report and balance-sheet were adopted. The report showed that the Association had had a very satisfactory season and the financial position wa s very sound, a substantial credit balance being shown on the season’s operations.

The following officers were elected for the ensuing season :—Patron, Mr S. Millen; president, Mr V. A. Stapleton; vice-presidents, Messrs W. A. Veitch, M. T. B. Williams W. Herd, R. Blackburn, W. Hassall, W. Davidge, and M. L -Shewan; lion. secretary and treasurer. Mr F. Phillips (pro tem) ; hon. auditor, Mr W. Herd: delegate to N. Mr F. Campbell; Management Committee, Messrs J. A. Leddy, J. Hill, and A. H. Tizzard-

Mr Campbell (delegate to N.Z.F.A.), attended the meeting and gave an interesting review of the work of the N.Z. Council.

It was decided to commence competitions on the 22nd inst.

The excellent game put up by Wanganui against Wellington in the Brown Shield match played locally, and the record crowd which assembled to see the match undoubtedly impressed the members of the N.Z. Council, and resulted in New Zealand’s premier fixture North Island v. South Island, being played here at the end of the season* This was the first occasion this match was played outside the four main centres. It is hoped to have a still larger attraction this season, as arrangements are well in hand for the forthcoming visit of the Australian team, which will play Wanganui on July Ist. MEE LTNG OF MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. A meeting of the W.F.A. Management Committee was held on the 11th inst., Mr V. A. Stapleton being in the chair. The matter of appointing a permanent hon. secretary and treasurer, held over from the annual meeting, was dealt with. Mr J. A. Leddy was elected, to the position.

The following committees were elected ’Fixtures and Grounds : Messrs Tizzard, Phillips and Beckett; Selection : Messrs Stapleton, Fyfe .and Hill. Publicity : Messrs Tizzard and Leddy.

It was resolved that the ground fees be 5s per match per team, and the affiliation fees be increased by £1 Is. As it was found impossible to arrange a match with Hawera for Easter Monday, owing to the visit of a Wellington team, it was decided to offer June 3rd as a suitable date for the match. The good services rendered by the St. John Ambulance Association were mentioned, and application will be made for the attendance of one member of the Association at matches this season.

Messrs Stapleton and Leddy were appointed delegates to the local/ Sports Association. As Wanganui is entitled to two vicepresidents ou the N.Z. Council, it was decided that the secretary attend the 'annual meeting of the Council to be held in Wellington on or about the 29th inst., when any matters concerning the game locally can be placed before Lhe parent body.
