WELLINGTON CELEBRATIONS. (I’er Press Association.! WELLINGTON, April 16. The weather for the holidays has « far been perfect. The only rain wai early on Saturday naming. Yesterday and to-day the weather was ideal, there oeing a blue sky, gentle breeze, and warm sun. Large numbers left the city on various excursions by rail and steamer. All seaside resorts were crowded.
At Wellington, the Waterside Work ers* Band carnival attracted 8(XM) people. It was a most successful gathering, and wilt be continued to-morrow. Yesterday’s progranyne consisted of held and other events, being:—22o'territorial laylow (St. Patrick’s); Companies’ relay race, St. Patrick’s; Single-handed Sawing Handicap, ’J’. Hannan (Taihane) ; Open Chop Handicap, Ahlen Riley (N.S.W-). Poi dancers from Otafci gave an exhibition at night. The grounds were illmlftinated and music and dancing were indulged in.
