HIS MAJESTY’S. His Majesty’s Theatre just now, in addition to a chief picture attraction, has secured the services of Madame Annette Hayward, who has proved herself to be ono of tho most popular artists in the Dominion. Madame Hayward is an artist of the highest rank. Some time ago when Madame Hayward appeared at His Majesty’s the season was found to be too short, and numbers of delighted patrons specially requested the management to get her”back again. The promise was given, and last night the promise was fulfilled. The distinguished singer is featuring popular fire, side songs, and charmed the audience. In addition to Madame Hayward, a veryfine picture programme was presented, including “Black Beauty.” The programme will be repeated this evening, when Madame Hayward will sing new songs.
PARAMOUNT MUNICIPAL PICTURES. “GIRLS'’ AND “THE AMATEUR DEVIL. Marguerite Clark makes a welcome reappearance at the Opera House tonight and to-morrow in “ Girls,” a special Paramount feature. Girls will lie man-fciters when they think they’ve reason enough, but Pamela (Marguerite Clark) was caught in the folds sure enough, and then the man-haters’ club adjourned sine die. This delightful story is taken from the play of the same name. Then in addition there is that grand light comedian. Bryant Washburn, in “An Amateur Devil.” Always good-humoured and with a delightful personality, h© wins his audi. ences from the very start of this picture. During the taking of this latest film story he exceeded even his best previous efforts for high-spirited comedy. Mr Washburn thoroughly enjoyed the role of a young blue-blood who became a farm hand, then a cafe waiter to disgrace the family, but how it worked the reverse way ! The box plan for both screenings is at Jones’. WANGANUI SCOTTISH SOCIETY.
