BOXING.

(By “Ringside.”) Wanganui is well off for big fights this week, the Dempsey-Carpentier fight picture and the Cann-Pascoe clash. It is unfortunate in a way that these two big events are on the same night. Mr O’Connor has centered with the local Association, and in order that lovers of the sport can see both events on Saturday night has decided to put the big picture on at 8 o’clock instead of 9 o’clock. This means that the Dempsey-Car-pentier portion of the programme will be over at 9 o’clock and will give all who wish to see both events time to get to the Drill Hall and see Canu and Pascoe enter the >ing for tneir big “go” at 9.15. To meet Mr. O’Connor in this matter the Association will stage the'ir first fight at 8.15 p.m. instead of 8 p.m.. as advertised. A great tiumber of people have requested that this should be done because Saturday night is the only night they can see the world’s two greatest champions in rh= ring, and they also wisn t(> see New Zealand’s two greatest bantams at “grips.” Mr O’Connor has proved himself a good “sport” tn this matter and the thanks of a great mat y of the lovers of boxing are due to him. Pascoe is die to arrive today. Why he has not come cai tier is because he wanted to gee as fit as possible at Lnnri Cadman’s school in Auckland. He knows when he is t P against with Charlie Cann. <’rd has been getti ig into top notch cider.

At those who take an interest in boxing will long remember this Saturday night. To see the world’s two greatest heavyweights and New Zealand’s two greatest bantams in the one evening, will be worth going a very long way to see. I would again remind patrons that to book their seats would be wise. The plan closes mid-day on Saturday at H. I. Jones.
