Slipe wools unchanged.” WOOL SALES. Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report at the wool sale held on 10th n«tant: We offered 1830 bales comprising mostly back country wools which elicited very keen competition from Bradford and Continental buyers. Prices in most instances were above last sale’s rates for coarse and medium and logstained wools, and we cleared the bulk of our catalogue under the hammer. Some growers have still the disposition to hamper sales by excessive reserves, and do not seem to have grasped the situation fully that prices are still below pre-war values. The hardening tendency in the London sales reflected on our catalogues and prices realised should prove satisfactory to our clients. Messrs. Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report the fourth sale of the season was held on the lOtli March to the usual attendance of buyers. Our catalogue had no outstanding lots but competition was ■ keen throughout the sale and except when hampered by high reserves from growers, a good clearance was effected. Prior to the sale in sympathy with the opening of London sale, a drop was expected by quite a number but we are pleased to be able to report that with the exception of average and inferior Halfbreds and super Crossbreds suitable for America of which very few lots were offering, this was not borne out in fact, low and coarse Crossbreds, which comprised most of the catalogues were firmer showing a rise of par to 3d and in some cases %d. Inferior pieces and lambs were hard to quit. Some of the best prices realised by us were.—AW/M Halfbrod 9d: MATTNGARAKI Crossbred 7Jd to 7Sd ;LGD Crossbred 7d; WW/Q Crossbred 6d to 7d; FLF Crossbred bld; JB/R Crossbred 6d to 64d; NE Crossbred 6d; WEFB Crossbred 64dHX Crossbred 6Jd; RMC Crossbred Cid: MKF Crossbred 63d; LTD/ Crossbr e<i 51d to 5%d; GHG/T Crossbred 5%d; EJ/T Crossbred 5%d; PIL/N Crossbred 5%d; A and P/R Crossbred 5%d- JE Crossbred Cd: PUNA WAI Crossbred 5%d; WARATAH Crossbred 5%dRAF Crossbred 5%d; WAIRANGI o 14 d.
